SYNTHESIS OF THE VULNERABILITY
An attacker who has the CAP_MAC_ADMIN privilege can alter a file
with security attributes, in order to trigger a denial of service
of the Linux kernel.
Impacted products: Linux
Severity: 1/4
Creation date: 07/02/2014
DESCRIPTION OF THE VULNERABILITY
The Linux kernel can be compiled with the support of NSA SELinux
(CONFIG_SECURITY_SELINUX).
However, when a file has an empty security context, the
security_context_to_sid_core() function accesses to an
uninitialized memory area.
An attacker who has the CAP_MAC_ADMIN privilege can therefore
alter a file with security attributes, in order to trigger a
denial of service of the Linux kernel.
