United Biscuits Use Bloxx Web Filtering to Manage Staff Online Activity

April 2011 by Marc Jacob

Bloxx, the innovator in Web and Email content filtering, today announced that United Biscuits, one of the world’s leading branded snacks businesses that include McVities, KP and Jacob’s, is using Bloxx Web filtering to proactively manage and report on the Web browsing activity of over 3,500 employees situated across 24 sites in the UK, Eire, France, Belgium and the Netherlands.

“The company has had an Internet Usage Policy in place for around nine years now that details our staffs’ rights to Internet access whilst at work. We recognised that the solution we previously had in place just wasn’t up to the task of providing the high level of online protection we demanded for our staff and when faced with significant cost increases at renewal decided to change to Bloxx,” said Steve Hackett, Senior Network Analyst at United Biscuits.

Bloxx Web Filtering is now monitoring and reporting on all Web activity at the company, delivering protection from inappropriate and productivity draining content, The company now has access policies for different departments as defined in the its Internet Usage Policy. To ensure compliance, the company uses the Bloxx Web reporting application to generate global KPI statistics which show where Internet resources are being used and who is using them.

Hackett adds, “As a manufacturing company with staff spread over multiple offices throughout the world, Bloxx Web Filtering delivers all the functionality and protection an organisation such as ours demands. We have a more feature rich solution that delivers better online protection for our staff, integrates easily with our network infrastructure, is simpler to administer and is less than half the price of our previous solution.”
