UCI Uses Cloud-Based File Exchange Solution from OpenTrust

January 2011 by Marc Jacob

OpenTrust, the Next-Gen IT security software publisher, announced that the International Cycling Union (UCI) is using OpenTrust MFT to exchange confidential documents with manufacturers as part of its new frame and fork certification process.

Based in Aigle, Switzerland, the UCI develops and promotes cycling, enforcing disciplinary rules and overseeing international cycling events. On Jan 1st 2011, the UCI published a new protocol for frame and fork testing in which OpenTrust Managed File Transfer (MFT) has been deployed as a trusted web-based service and is used to transmit documents securely over an encrypted network throughout the approval procedure.

The UCI began investigating possible file exchange solutions for the certification process at the end of 2010. The principal requirement was to ensure that all documents exchanged are done so in accordance with the UCI’s confidentiality policy related to plans, drawings, designs, brands, models or any other intellectual property submitted by manufacturers.

With its built-in reporting and auditing capabilities, OpenTrust MFT ensures compliance with all the UCI’s requirements for traceability of actions and exchanges. The solution guarantees secure reception of all files with proof of sending and can be used to exchange files of all types and sizes. In addition to providing a high level of confidentiality, OpenTrust MFT is simple to use for the manufacturers. The intuitive Web-based interface can be accessed from any location using a standard browser.

“OpenTrust MFT’s powerful administration tools make the solution ideal for managing both one-to-one and group document exchanges with manufacturers in complete security.” said Hervé Lecart, Associate Director Online Services at OpenTrust. “We are very proud to count the UCI as one of our many global customers that have successfully deployed our cloud-based services.” continued Mr Lecart.
