Methode Data Solutions Group Expands Its Automated Intelligence Solutions with the Launch of LockTalkSM Biometric Security

March 2011 by Marc Jacob

In an age of headline-making security breaches and expensive data loss, many enterprises are looking for a new approach to automate the physical security of their data centers. Methode Data Solutions Group, a unit of Methode Electronics, Inc., is pleased to announce the launch of its LockTalkSM Data Center Security Access Control System. This latest innovation in access authorization and control features the Methode-developed BioSigSM and door lock mapping technologies that integrate fingerprint biometric access authentication with electronically controlled locking and unlocking at the cabinet door level within the data center floor.

The LockTalkSM Data Center Security Access Control System features a touchscreen-driven mapping and access system to enable user interaction with the data center facilities. The LockTalkSM system is unique in that it uses Lumidigm Inc.’s Mercury Biometric Sensors to provide multispectral imaging that can capture biometric images from any person in any type of environmental conditions, whereas other fingerprint sensors are sometimes vulnerable to moisture, ambient light, and topical contaminants. Data center administrators can choose from a variety of electronically controlled lock systems to match the door types and styles in their facilities, whether they are access doors to data center rooms or doors on individual server, storage, or networking cabinetry. Additionally, Methode’s BioSigSM software allows administrators to integrate the various physical aspects of their security setups and provides security profiles with logs that detail time opened, latch states, and lock states.

Methode’s Data Solutions Group provides a broad range of products including copper and fiber cable assemblies, high speed copper SFP’s, cages and direct attached cables, patch panels, cabinets, asset tracking enabled through RFID, biometric access control, optical test equipment, harsh environment network equipment and a wide array of custom solutions. Our highly qualified professional services team can engineer and install the best solution to fit your needs.
