Zolo is a new alarm system

September 2014 by Marc Jacob

Alarm and security fog in one system. Protect has just launched Zolo, the first GSM alarm system which can control a fog cannon wirelessly. The target group is private homes and holiday houses, small companies and mobile units such as construction trailers, boats and caravans.

Fog cannon are a unique form of protection which protect valuables even after a break-in has occurred. Protect’s network of distributors therefore often receive enquiries about lower cost fog protection systems from private consumers and others wanting to protect small homes or holiday houses, and other sites which only need temporary protection.

Protect has analysed the options and designed a new GSM burglar alarm to which fog cannon can be connected. It is called the Zolo GSM Security System, and has been developed for private homes, homes under construction and temporary examination rooms etc., where it is not possible to install a traditional burglar alarm. The new Protect Zolo alarm is an affordable solution which can be installed for 335 euros, not including the fog cannon. The solution is also cheaper than a traditional burglar alarm, because it is generally not connected to a guard call-out scheme and therefore has no fixed monthly expense. However, this can be purchased from dealers as an optional extra.

Easy installation for technicians
The Zolo GSM Security System is supplied through Protect’s network of distributors and alarm technicians as a complete package containing:
a PIR sensor with a built-in GSM module
a Zolo communications card, to be installed in the fog cannon
 a verifying PIR sensor
 a small remote control
a USB cable for updating the alarm via a PC
an antenna to be installed on the fog cannon
 two fog protection labels and
 a quick guide

A SIM card for the GSM module is not included.

The fog cannon is the centrepiece of the burglar alarm. It is installed with the small communications card, a verifying PIR sensor and an antenna. The antenna communicates with the PIR sensor and built-in GSM connection. Fog is only released once the two PIR sensors have registered movement in the room.

The Zolo GSM Security System can be connected and disconnected using the remote control included, or a telephone. Once the GSM alarm is triggered, a message is sent to the person(s) the owner has programmed into the system. The owner or someone else can then check the protected building.

To connect multiple fog cannon to the same system, simply purchase another Zolo pack and fog cannon. The Zolo GSM Security System can be extended to include additional remote controls, a fixed code keypad and door and window switches.
