Wick Hill Now Shipping Barracuda’s New Application Delivery Controller

June 2013 by Marc Jacob

Wick Hill is now shipping Barracuda Networks’ new application delivery controller, an integrated solution that combines load balancing, application acceleration, application control, and application security into a single, high-performance platform. This new product marks Barracuda’s official entrance into the Application Delivery Controller market space, a highly anticipated move for the company, given its extensive history of securing and scaling applications in the data centre.

According to the 4Q12 Data Center Appliance Report, published Feb. 2013 by Dell’Oro Group, “data center build outs, consolidation, the continued preference of users bringing their own devices, as well as increased applications on each device, will drive robust growth in the ADC market in 2013.”

Barracuda’s new ADC combines the advanced capabilities of the company’s purpose-built appliances for application security and load balancing, which have an installed base of more than 17,000 data centre customers throughout the world.

Key highlights of the new Barracuda ADC platform include:

* Designed for Data Centres - The new Barracuda ADC platform is designed for performance. With up to 32 x 1GbE ports and up to 8 x 10GbE ports, it easily meets the needs of today’s high-traffic data centres.

* Complete Application Security - Barracuda’s ADC platform secures applications against attacks at both the network and the application layer, including OWASP Top-10 attacks such as SQL injection, cookie tampering, and session hijacking – without impacting system performance.

* Thoroughly Tested Deployments - Extensive certifications, templates, and deployment guides are included for common applications such as Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft SharePoint, Oracle Applications, web servers, and virtual servers.
