Vigil@nce - Zend Framework: header injection via CRLF
July 2015 by Vigil@nce
This bulletin was written by Vigil@nce : http://vigilance.fr/offer
SYNTHESIS OF THE VULNERABILITY
An attacker can inject line feeds in the Zend\Mail and Zend\Http
modules of Zend Framework, in order to modify the content of
generated messages/queries.
Impacted products: Debian, Fedora, Zend Framework
Severity: 2/4
Creation date: 11/05/2015
DESCRIPTION OF THE VULNERABILITY
The Zend Framework provides the Zend\Mail and Zend\Http modules in
order to generate mails or web queries.
For example, the Zend\Mail\Message::setSubject() method defines
the subject of the mail. However, a user who can alter the subject
can insert line feeds and thus inject new headers to modify the
mail content.
The Zend\Http class is impacted by a similar vulnerability.
An attacker can therefore inject line feeds in the Zend\Mail and
Zend\Http modules of Zend Framework, in order to modify the
content of generated messages/queries.
