SYNTHESIS OF THE VULNERABILITY
An authenticated attacker can use the AJAX interface for
administration of WordPress Social Media and Share Icons (Ultimate
Social Media), in order to escalate his privileges.
Impacted products: WordPress Plugins not comprehensive.
Severity: 2/4.
Creation date: 29/06/2016.
DESCRIPTION OF THE VULNERABILITY
The Social Media and Share Icons (Ultimate Social Media) plugin
can be installed on WordPress.
Some administration functions are used via an AJAX interface.
However, the routine that handles these requests, sfsi_DeleteSkin,
does not check whether the user is actually an administrator,
before actually deleting the targeted files.
An authenticated attacker can therefore use the AJAX interface for
administration of WordPress Social Media and Share Icons (Ultimate
Social Media), in order to escalate his privileges.
