December 2013 by Vigil@nce
This bulletin was written by Vigil@nce : http://vigilance.fr/offer
SYNTHESIS OF THE VULNERABILITY
A local attacker can use NDPROXY on Windows XP/2003, in order to
escalate his privileges.
Impacted products: Windows 2003, Windows XP
Severity: 2/4
Creation date: 28/11/2013
DESCRIPTION OF THE VULNERABILITY
The NDProxy.sys driver interfaces TAPI (Telephony Application
Programming Interfaces) services with the NDISWAN/CoNDIS driver
(WAN miniport, call managers, miniport call managers). The driver
runs with kernel privileges.
However, on Windows XP/2003, this driver does not correctly check
its parameters, which leads to code execution with kernel
privileges.
A local attacker can therefore use NDPROXY on Windows XP/2003, in
order to escalate his privileges.
