SYNTHESIS OF THE VULNERABILITY

An attacker can send a malicious series of fragmented TCP packets
to a TCP service listening on Juniper Junos, in order to trigger a
denial of service.

Impacted products: Juniper J-Series, JUNOS.

Severity: 2/4.

Creation date: 15/10/2015.

DESCRIPTION OF THE VULNERABILITY

The Juniper Junos product reassembles received TCP fragmented
packets.

However, when a special sequence of fragmented packets is
received, Junos consumes all its resources.

An attacker can therefore send a malicious series of fragmented
TCP packets to a TCP service listening on Juniper Junos, in order
to trigger a denial of service.
