October 2008 by Vigil@nce
SYNTHESIS
A local attacker can use a malicious signature in order to stop
D-Bus and related applications.
Gravity: 1/4
Consequences: denial of service of service
Provenance: user shell
Means of attack: 1 attack
Ability of attacker: technician (2/4)
Confidence: confirmed by the editor (5/5)
Diffusion of the vulnerable configuration: high (3/3)
Creation date: 10/10/2008
IMPACTED PRODUCTS

DESCRIPTION
The D-Bus environment is used by applications to exchange
information. It is based on a daemon and a library which is used
by software.
The dbus_signature_validate() function validates the signature
which represents the data format:
– a : array
– b : boolean
– i : 32 bits integer
– s : string
– etc.
However, if an array of integer has an invalid signature, an error
occurs in dbus_signature_validate().
A local attacker can use a malicious signature in order to stop
D-Bus and related applications.
