SYNTHESIS OF THE VULNERABILITY
An attacker can send a malicious GTP packet to Cisco Aggregation
Services Router, in order to trigger a denial of service.
Impacted products: Cisco ASR.
Severity: 2/4.
Creation date: 22/06/2016.
DESCRIPTION OF THE VULNERABILITY
The Cisco Aggregation Services Router product has a service to
manage received "General Packet Radio Switching Tunneling
Protocol" packets.
However, when a packet with a specially crafted header is
received, a fatal error occurs in the Session Manager process.
An attacker can therefore send a malicious GTP packet to Cisco
Aggregation Services Router, in order to trigger a denial of
service.
