SYNTHESIS OF THE VULNERABILITY
An attacker can do a Man in The Middle attack to access
FlashPlayer data via the "Settings Manager" application.
– Severity: 2/4
– Creation date: 07/09/2010
DESCRIPTION OF THE VULNERABILITY
The Adobe "Settings Manager" application is used to configure the
FlashPlayer. It is a Flash application. A Local Shared Object
(LSO, Flash cookie) is a local object containing various
information of a Flash application. An LSO is accessible only by
the domain that created it.
When the page of the "Settings Manager" is accessed, the
corresponding Flash application is loaded via HTTPS. This applet
is then allowed to modify LSO for all domains that have one.
However, an attacker can do a Man in The Middle attack in order to
manipulate LSO. It can for example turn the microphone and webcam
on for all sites using flash.
An attacker can therefore do a MiTM attack to access FlashPlayer
data.
