Symantec Appoints Amit Mital as Chief Technology Officer

Symantec Corp. announced the appointment of Amit Mital as chief technology officer, responsible for driving the company’s technology strategy with a focus on accelerating innovation, product development and R&D. Mital will report directly to Symantec CEO Steve Bennett.
Mital joins Symantec after 20 years with Microsoft, most recently as the corporate vice president for the company’s Startup Business Group, where he was responsible for managing strategic product development along with identifying and executing new innovation opportunities. Mital holds 43 patents and is an innovator in several technologies that align with Symantec’s business including machine learning, big data and high scale web and cloud services.
Steve Trilling, Symantec’s current CTO, will be moving to an operational senior leadership role in the company.
Mital holds a M.S. in Engineering from the Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth College.
