December 2017 by Kirill Kasavchenko, Principal Security Technologist, EMEA at Arbor Networks
Following the news that a security researcher has pushed Natwest to secure their website using HTTPS, the commentary from Kirill Kasavchenko, principal security technologist, EMEA at Arbor Networks.
“When the whole Internet is moving to global encryption with initiatives like “let’s encrypt”, it should come as no wonder that users expect the financial industry to be first in line to implement encryption for all their online applications, including landing pages of their websites. While the closed lock* does not completely guarantee that users traffic will not be subject to an attack, it is a good indication that it will be much harder for attackers to steal users’ data.”
