Seal of approval for GCU’s Cyber Security Graduate Apprenticeship

A Glasgow Caledonian University cyber security programme has become the first Scottish Graduate Apprenticeship to achieve full National Cyber Security Centre Certification.
The MSc Cyber Security Graduate Apprenticeship has been given the seal of approval by the National Cyber Security Centre, along with a programme at another Scottish university.
GCU is Scotland’s leading provider of Graduate Apprenticeships, working collaboratively with more than 300 employers.
The MSc Apprenticeship is targeted towards existing IT professionals who need to develop their current skills and experience in assessing security risks across a broad range of technical security solutions and designs. By the time of course completion, Master’s graduates will be able to plan and carry out a variety of security testing strategies on IT infrastructures.
GCU’s Common Good principles and values are embedded in the course, where graduates develop their ability to find innovative solutions for real-world problems they encounter in their workplace, and reflect on the business impact of their decisions. All Apprenticeships are fully-funded by the Scottish Funding Council.
Head of Department Dr Jackie Riley said: "Achieving NCSC Certification is the culmination of three years of work for the department. The process includes evaluation of the degree content, the staff skill set, the facilities available to the students and the commitment of the university to cyber security."
