Ping Identity’s reaction to 5th GDPR anniversary
May 2023 by Rob Otto, EMEA field CTO at Ping Identity
For the 5th anniversary of GDPR,the comment from Rob Otto, EMEA field CTO at Ping Identity.
“As we mark the 5th anniversary of GDPR, it’s evident that nothing much has changed in the past year. In fact, in many cases, evidence shows that organisations are still struggling to follow basic data and security laws.
“In many instances, organisations are still feeling the impact of the pandemic and their decision to deprioritise investment in data protection and focus solely on those areas that would drive revenue. For example, at the height of COVID, we saw projects being stopped overnight. The situation may have improved as we’ve moved forward from the pandemic, but the fresh economic challenges we’re facing mean we risk seeing the same response from businesses.
“Organisations must use this as a chance to re-evaluate their data practices and ensure they have robust, adaptable and compliant security solutions that can protect against the increased threats. Importantly, they must do this without compromising the user experience.”
