Ping Identity Acquires Mobile Identity and Multi-Factor Authentication Provider accells technologies

Ping Identity®, The Identity Security Company™, announced it has acquired accells technologies, a pioneer in context-based mobile authentication. Patented accells technology addresses the lack of security inherent in user-managed passwords and the significant limitations of one-time, token-based solutions. The acquisition allows Ping Identity to quickly incorporate a secure yet simple mobile authentication solution into its comprehensive identity and access management platform. Ping Identity also gains a high-performing team of engineers to drive the organization’s investment in mobile.
Businesses of all sizes are struggling to find the right balance of authentication strength, total cost of ownership and user experience. According to Gartner, Inc., “In the absence of widely available and proven mobile-apt (or mobile-friendly) authentication methods, pragmatism is driving enterprises to implement methods that may not be classically ‘strong,’ but rather are technically feasible, are lower-cost and provide better user experience.”¹

Terms of the agreement were not disclosed. The acquisition includes patented and patent-pending technologies and a team of mobile engineers based in Petah Tikva, Israel.
