Petit Bateau enhances Retail Website security with GlobalSign EV SSL

April 2011 by Marc Jacob

GlobalSign announced that Petit Bateau has adopted the latest type of SSL technology to secure its customer-facing websites in France and Germany. Extended Validation (EV) SSL triggers the “green address bar” in the latest browsers and gives companies a means of visibly showing website visitors they are a truly authentic organisation operating a legitimate website and employ the strongest encryption levels – a clear business differentiator for today’s online organisations.

SSL is a critical tool in ensuring high levels of online security as it provides a secure channel between two machines operating over the Internet, essentially protecting the data transmitted from threats of credit card fraud and identity theft. As a leading ecommerce organisation, it is even more crucial for Petit Bateau to remain one step ahead of today’s security threats by adopting the highest level of security available to protect its customers. Petit Bateau decided to implement EV SSL on the customer login and payment pages of its newly redesigned website, adding an essential level of trust for online shoppers wishing to carry out ecommerce transactions.

As well as protecting customer details, EV SSL turns the address bar green in the latest browsers, and clearly displays the name and details of the organisation behind the website, as well as the issuing Certification Authority. It represents an incredibly simple experience for end users by making online security truly visible. Customers can be reassured that they are dealing with the authentic Petit Bateau organisation, whilst Petit Bateau itself can protect its brand from copycat websites and safeguard its valuable reputation. Petit Bateau switched from another SSL provider to take advantage of the high level of security and quality of customer service that GlobalSign can provide at the best prices in the industry.

“Petit Bateau’s success directly depends upon the level of online trust that we can provide our customers. Our clients need to be confident that their personal information will be completely secure and this plays a major role in purchasing decisions.” said Amélie David, CRM and Internet Director, Petit Bateau. “We are dedicated to ensuring a safe online shopping experience for our customers and GlobalSign’s EV SSL Certificates allow us to do exactly this.”

“We are pleased to see a growing number of household names illustrate their commitment to using our trust enabling technology,” said Paul Tourret, Managing Director, GMO GlobalSign Limited. “EV SSL is the ideal solution to growing mistrust of online services by consumers and an ideal way of ensuring maximum visitor-to-customer conversions. EV SSL will allow Petit Bateau and 1000s of other retail websites to safeguard and increase their online revenues”.

GlobalSign enables the strongest levels of SSL to be accessible to all sizes of organisation, across all industries and territories by offering a simplified, competitively priced, feature-packed range of SSL Certificates. All EV SSL Certificates provide 2048 bit future-proof security and include free Server Gated Cryptography (to “step up” weak browser encryption to strong encryption on older browsers), as well as unlimited server licensing.
