Oracle Announces Oracle Data Integration Suite

February 2008 by Marc Jacob

Oracle Data Integration Suite provides a comprehensive end-to-end data integration platform that connects heterogeneous data sources and applications and delivers clean, accurate, and timely data across the enterprise. Oracle Data Integration Suite is a component of Oracle Fusion Middleware, industry’s fastest growing, most standards-compliant, and best-of-breed technology foundation for Service-Oriented Architecture.

Built on open-standards, Oracle Data Integration Suite components enable a consistent and open framework for data integration across heterogeneous data sources and applications that include IBM DB2, MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, Teradata, Oracle Database, and Oracle and other ERP Applications.

· Oracle Data Integration Suite offers fully-integrated, best-in-class capabilities that address the data integration needs of an organization by coupling leading new technologies for Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) with conventional data management components like extract, load, and transform (E-LT), data quality (DQ), data profiling (DP) and master data management (MDM). Oracle Data Integration Suite combines Oracle’s core strengths in SOA-based Business Process Management (BPM) and change management with Oracle Hyperion’s Master Data Management capabilities. In addition, the platform also offers broad data movement and delivery services, broad data connectivity, data integration core services and metadata services.

· By unifying BPM, MDM, DQ, and DP capabilities in its core E-LT foundation; Oracle can provide businesses with the most comprehensive and powerful end-to-end data integration solution - in a modern, open and standards-based SOA framework.

· Oracle Data Integration Suite optionally incorporates in-memory data grid technology as an option. Also, there are two new products, Oracle(r) Data Profiling and Oracle(r) Data Quality for Oracle Data Integrator, which are jointly developed with Harte-HanksTrillium Software. The Trillium Software System(r) is embedded into Oracle Data Integrator.
Supporting Quotes

· "Delivery of data services in a service-oriented architecture (SOA) context - an architectural technique, rather than a data integration usage itself, data services are the emerging trend for the role and implementation of data integration capabilities within SOA’s. Data integration tools will increasingly enable the delivery of many types of data services." Source: Gartner Magic Quadrant for Data Integration Tools, 2007; Ted Friedman, October 5, 2007.

· "Oracle is committed to delivering an integrated and comprehensive data integration platform," said Amlan Debnath Vice President, Oracle Server Technologies. "This approach is critical for lowering total cost of ownership and reducing the need for support and maintenance for companies facing today’s data integration challenges. This announcement demonstrates Oracle’s commitment to helping customers manage data integration challenges across heterogeneous systems and deliver clean and accurate data across the enterprise."

· "The Trillium Software data quality and data profiling capabilities that are now available within the Oracle Data Integration Suite offer Oracle customers a strategic foundation for data quality in conjunction with Oracle’s ELT foundation. Together this solution provides a strong toolset for data integration projects," said John Nicoli, Managing Director, Trillium Software at Harte-Hanks. "We worked closely with Oracle to embed Trillium Software’s flagship data profiling and data quality products into Oracle’s ELT foundation. We believe the resulting Oracle Data Integration Suite provides comprehensive data integration for the platform so customers can take advantage of one powerful end-to-end integration solution."
