Openwave Mobility Strengthens Mobile Digital Identity with Subscriber Privacy upgrade
March 2017 by Emmanuelle Lamandé
Openwave Mobility announced that it has released key User Privacy upgrades as part of SmartIDM, a comprehensive digital identity solution for mobile operators partnering with OTTs.
This launch comes at a time of heightened interest from network operators and
regulators for secure subscriber identity solutions and robust privacy safeguards.
SmartIDM is part of Openwave Mobility’s portfolio of Subscriber Data Management
(SDM) products.
The new user privacy module for SmartIDM allows subscribers to control exactly what
information operators share with OTTs. With a secure and centralized digital
identity, carriers can prevent fraud, deliver personalized services and introduce
micropayments in collaboration with OTTs.
Subscribers will now have a simple opt-in/opt-out choice for different aspects of
personal information sharing. For example, subscribers could turn off geolocation
details for a retailer but keep these switched on for banking applications.
Operators can now work with content providers to improve the user experience
tailored to each subscriber and comply with local regulatory frameworks.
