Napatech introduces Traffic generation and Capture & replay feature sets
April 2010 by Marc Jacob
Napatech launched two new important product features sets to address Traffic Generation and Capture & Replay applications. The Traffic Generation feature set addresses Ethernet full line-rate traffic generation applications, while the Capture & Replay feature set addresses Capture & Replay applications. The introduction of the Traffic Generation and Capture & Replay feature sets coincides with the announcement of Napatech’s new NT20E2 2x10 Gbps PCI-Express Gen 2 In-line and Capture network adapters.
The Traffic Generation and Capture & Replay feature sets are supported by the current 4-port 1G and 2-port 10G Napatech products as well as the new NT20E2 2x10Gbps PCI-Express Gen 2 network adapters.
Key features for Traffic Generation are:
Full line-rate 20 Gbps Ethernet traffic generation
10ns precision time-stamping of transmitted packets
Transmit of packets according to individual packet time stamps
Ethernet, TCP and UDP checksum generation
Configurable Inter-Frame Gap (IFG)
Generated traffic can be application-generated traffic or traffic from a file.
Key features for Capture & Replay are:
Full throughput 10 Gbps capture and analysis per port (max 20 Gbps)
Full line-rate 10 Gbps replay per port (max 20 Gbps)
Full capture feature set (similar to Napatech Capture adapters)
10ns precision time-stamping on received and transmitted packets
Replay of packets according to individual packet time stamps
Hardware time synchronization based on GPS, IEEE1588v2 or CDMA
Ethernet, TCP and UDP checksum verification and generation
Configurable Inter-Frame Gap (IFG)
The Napatech adapter acceleration features enable on the fly intelligent indexing of received frames for fast data retrieval from storage.
