Morpho Shipped the 2,000th CTX System to London Heathrow Airport
April 2016 by Coline Magne
Morpho (Safran), through its subsidiary Morpho Detection, announced that it ships its 2,000th advanced hold baggage explosives detection system (EDS).
The high-speed CTX 9800 DSi™, destined for London Heathrow Airport, is part of a contract announced in April 2015 to supply 45 explosives detection systems (EDS) to screen all in-gauge baggage in four terminals. Once fully deployed, Heathrow will operate the largest fleet of CTX EDS outside of the U.S.
Beginning with its first U.S. certification in 1994, all six generations of CTX EDS have achieved TSA certification by meeting stringent requirements for both throughput and detection. Most recently, the compact CTX 5800 and high-speed CTX 9800 received approval from the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC) as meeting Standard 3 requirements and certification by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC).
