A product known as ‘Malwarebiter’ (an obvious attempt to copycat and use the tremendous popularity of the Malwarebytes product) is being advertised as the ‘Worlds Greatest Anti-Malware Software.’ It is actually a fake Anti-Malware software product that identifies legitimate files as malware (i.e. False Positives) and fails to detect any real malware. In addition, the “Malwarebiter” web site is actually spreading malware, specifically, a drive-by exploit in the form of a Zeus Trojan that is delivered either by Java or a PDF. DO NOT VISIT THIS SITE unless you are using a secured environment such as a sandbox application or a virtual machine. This is a serious threat but it’s kind of a funny story…in fact, if you google Malwarebiter, Malwarebytes comes up….just another way for the cyber bullies to try and screw with business and commerce online.
