Hedvig Recognized by Gartner as a 2016 ’Cool Vendor’ in Storage Technologies

April 2016 by Coline Magne

Hedvig, the company modernizing storage and accelerating enterprise adoption of private and hybrid clouds, announced that it has been named one of this year’s "Cool Vendors in Storage Technologies" by Gartner Inc. This recognition, coming just a year after Hedvig emerged from stealth, we believe highlights the growing importance of the software-defined infrastructure market for IT administrators and large organizations.

Each year, Gartner identifies "Cool Vendors" in key technology areas and publishes a series of research reports evaluating pioneering vendors and their products and services. According to the "Cool Vendors in Storage Technologies, 2016" report, "many organizations are evaluating technologies that will drive efficiency, such as higher-performing and more automated storage, cloud-based solutions, and data management and backup and recovery products that allow for proactive problem avoidance and increased resource utilization and optimization."

The Hedvig Distributed Storage Platform is a complete, unified platform for highly elastic, flexible and scalable next-generation infrastructure. Hedvig’s software-only approach provides the flexibility for bimodal IT — supporting both mode 1 and mode 2 workloads with protocols like iSCSI and NFS along with object storage APIs like S3 and Swift. Hedvig is the only software-defined solution that delivers the power of distributed systems with the simplicity of cloud and a complete set of enterprise capabilities for any application, hypervisor, container, or cloud environment.
