ForeScout Security Automation Advances Granarolo Network Defences and Delivers Operational Savings

May 2012 by ForeScout

ForeScout Technologies, Inc., a provider of automated security control solutions for Fortune 1000 enterprises and government organisations, today announced that Granarolo Group, Italy’s largest dairy provider and a leader in the country’s manufacturing sector, has selected ForeScout’s automated security control platform to advance network defences and achieve operational savings. Since deploying ForeScout CounterACT, Granarolo has saved 50% in related man hours and €20,000 annual costs.

Granarolo operates a heterogenous IT infrastructure, comprised of thousands of systems, a mix of wired and wireless network technologies, and distributed industrial and office structures. Increasing network complexity; the wide variety of users and device types including notebooks, smartphones, laptops and iPads: together with an ever-changing threat landscape prompted the company to look for a network access control (NAC) solution, one which would advance the Group’s security procedures, in order to maintain defences, compliance and operational performance.

Granarolo’s information security provider, Yotta Tecnologie, recommended ForeScout’s automated security control platform, CounterACT. Granarolo tested other market leading NAC solutions too, but chose CounterACT because it was more flexible, addressed more of the company’s network security requirements at a lower total cost of ownership, whilst also delivering on access and mobile security needs. CounterACT was quickly and easily deployed across seven sites, serving over 5000 endpoints.

Roberto Poli, CTO at Granarolo Group, said, “We were concerned that the deployment of a NAC solution might disrupt network operations and levels of end user productivity. This has not been the case at all: since installation, ForeScout CounterACT has been quietly and effectively doing its job, plus it is extremely easy to manage. We had it up and running in no time, the interface is very good, and it has had no problem handling the diversity of our network. This has helped our IT team significantly reduce the amount of time spent building up defences and subsequently tackling security issues.”

John Hagerty, EMEA Sales Director at ForeScout, commented, “Throughout Europe, customers like Granarolo are seeking network access and mobile security solutions that can readily work with their existing heterogeneous environment and can deliver immediate savings. This is where ForeScout’s automated security control platform, CounterACT, is different from other infrastructure approaches. The combination of ForeScout’s usability, deployment flexibility and demonstrable cost savings are a huge benefit to our customers.”

Vladi Colombi, Sales Account Manager at Yotta Tecnologie, said, “Granarolo is testament to the value of ForeScout CounterACT. It’s an incredibly powerful network security tool, but is solid, very easy to use and versatile. Deployment was fast and the built-in security policies were quickly and easily customised to effectively support Granarolo’s compliance and mobile security requirements.”

ForeScout was recently recognised by Frost & Sullivan as the largest independent NAC vendor and one that is growing the fastest among market leaders. To obtain an abridged copy of Frost & Sullivan 2012 NAC market analysis, visit www.forescout.com/frost2012.
