ForeScout® Technologies Named a Representative Vendor in Gartner’s 2016 Market Guide for Network Access Control (NAC)

June 2016 by Marc Jacob

ForeScout® Technologies, Inc. announced today that it has been named as a representative vendor in Gartner’s Market Guide for Network Access Control (NAC). The report provided deep insight and technical analysis on the status of the NAC market.

Increased enterprise adoption of the IoT and bring-your-own-device (BYOD) is the driving force behind the need for NAC. "Employees regularly connect to networks remotely, and consultants, contractors and other guests enter facilities and request connectivity to the enterprise’s network. Many enterprises have established BYOD networks, primarily wireless, to enable employees to access networks with personally owned devices. Also, there are an increasing number of IoT devices that need to be managed through NAC," said Gartner analysts Claudio Neiva and Lawrence Orans.*

Through ForeScout’s ControlFabric® architecture and integrated security platform, ForeScout’s CounterACT® has the unique ability to dynamically identify, evaluate and protect endpoints and Internet-connected devices — including both authorised and unauthorised — the instant they connect to the network. ForeScout’s CounterACT reduces enterprise vulnerabilities and improves security with its ability to share real-time contextual insights through complete network visibility and automated system-wide threat response.

"We believe being named as a representative NAC vendor by Gartner is a true testament to the promise of our technology and validation of our leadership in the Network Access Control space," said ForeScout CEO and President Michael DeCesare. "The IoT is exploding. The likelihood of an IoT-based security breach increases by the minute. Businesses need full visibility and control of all devices on their network in order to not fall prey to attack."

"While the information security market was expected to grow 14.9% in revenue in 2015, the network access control market is estimated to have grown by 18% from 2014 to 2015, with an estimated market size of $543 million," continued Gartner analysts Claudio Neiva and Lawrence Orans.
