ControlCircle offers 2012 IT Health check

UK businesses are able to check the operational running, scalability and efficiencies of their IT infrastructure, following the launch of a 2012 IT health check by ControlCircle, a UK managed service provider.
The 2012 health check takes a 360° view of an organisation’s IT infrastructure, including utilisation of systems and bandwidth, business continuity and disaster recovery strategies, patch levels and scalability, matching the capacity to both the current demands of the business and those created by significant events such as the Olympics.
The end result of the health check is a report summarising how well an organisation’s infrastructure is running and its ability to cope with increased demand, on a scale of 1-5. It makes recommendations on how to drive improvements in cost, savings and investment in IT, including managing and maintaining estate on latest technology platforms and solutions.
“With global economic volatility, and significant local events in 2012, businesses should take a robust and also flexible approach to their IT infrastructure and look for opportunities to optimise across the board,” said ControlCircle CEO Carmen Carey. “More than ever, organisations should broaden their perspective and be certain to consider models that deliver optimal business outcomes. For example, running certain applications in the cloud where it makes the most sense from a business execution and economic point of view.”
“A quality service provider should be able to recommend the optimal model to meet an organisation’s requirements and enable workload mobility so that it has a single management and monitoring view of the full estate, for cost and for security purposes, no matter where or how it is deployed,” she added.
Whilst last week’s Gartner best practice advice offered at the Data Center & IT Operations Summit 2011 recommended companies build their own datacenters, the 2012 health check advises corporates on a balanced roadmap for their business, taking into account in-house resources and skills, a business continuity and disaster recovery strategy, and long term growth plans. It considers geographic expansion and growth objectives with the objective of building an optimal IT footprint, from a cost and flexibility point of view.
