By PoINT Storage Manager archiving is carried out in an automated manner, depending on policies which have to be configured individually taking advantage of all suitable storage systems like disk, tape, optical, object storage and cloud. By these policies the administrator can define that only specific data is archived. The File Tiering solution has additional functions like data protection and data security, which ensure that the archived data is protected against modification and manipulation. Furthermore PoINT Storage Manager offloads the primary storage by using File Tiering and thus cost-intensive storage extensions can be avoided.
