Choreus Datacenter breaks ground on construction of the Aubergenville site
May 2014 by Emmanuelle Lamandé
Choreus Datacenter announced the launch of construction at its Aubergenville site.
This new generation data center, located 20 minutes from Paris La Défense, will use 35% less electricity compared to a traditionally powered data center.
The energy use and the size of the operation’s carbon footprint can be reduced using total free cooling. This consists of using external air as a free ventilation source when outdoor temperatures are cooler than those inside the data center.
This exclusive design gives this new infrastructure a PUE of 1.2.
The Aubergenville site will be a campus of 8 data center units of 500 m2 of IT (each unit consisting of 2 rooms of 250 m2). The first phase consists of construction of 2 units, followed by a new unit every six months.
The range of electrical power available for each bay is from 2 to 20 Kw, with a completely redundant 2N electrical installation, 2N backup generators, and a 2N cooling installation. In France, the site has a very high level of availability: 99.99% guaranteed.
In terms of security, the group provides the following:
– trained personnel on site 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year,
– video surveillance, access control, interlocking door system,
– very early smoke detection apparatus (VESDA),
– water mist fire extinguishing system.
This data center will also be the first in Europe to use gas trigeneration to meet its power needs. This technology will be implemented in the second half of 2015.
