Check Point Unveils New UTM Appliances

July 2008 by Emmanuelle Lamandé

Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. announced the expansion of its UTM-1 Total Security appliance line, allowing customers and partners to better match the right solution with their security and performance needs. UTM-1 Total Security appliances offer businesses the most comprehensive network protection and lowest total cost of ownership (TCO) available.

Check Point UTM-1 Total Security appliances give businesses a comprehensive solution that combines firewall, virtual private network (VPN), intrusion prevention, SSL VPN, antivirus, anti-spyware, Web filtering, Web security, and anti-spam into one, centrally managed solution. The new models are:

UTM-1 Total Security 1070 featuring 1800 Mbps firewall throughput, three managed sites and six ports

UTM-1 Total Security 2070 featuring 2800 Mbps firewall throughput, five managed sites and eight ports

All UTM-1 Total Security appliances come with a three year hardware warranty. Also available are either one or three year Total Security service packages, which includes update services for SmartDefense intrusion prevention, gateway antivirus, Web filtering and product software updates, as well as reduced support rates.

Since Check Point launched its series of appliances, a wide range of customers worldwide have adopted the security gateways. Businesses such as Advance Systems Group, Inc., AirIQ, Inc., Hitachi Asia, Ltd., Mustang Engineering and Sun Chemical use Check Point appliances to secure their networks. Transportation facilities like Athens International Airport and telecommunication companies including KPN and RRC rely on Check Point appliances.

Similarly, government and nonprofit organizations, such as B.P.O. Elks, CAE ATS plc, Secretaria de Turismo and State of Michigan, as well as health and financial institutions, including Beaumont Hospitals and Florida Bank, depend on network security appliances from Check Point.

Check Point UTM-1 Total Security appliances provide customers a single network security solution that includes firewall, VPN, intrusion prevention, SSL VPN, antivirus, anti-spyware, Web filtering, Web security, and anti-spam.

The new UTM-1 models are the latest additions to Check Point’s line of comprehensive network security appliances. Check Point’s appliance portfolio also includes the Power-1® series, introduced in April, 2008. Power-1 appliances provide performance levels that scale to 14Gbps and combine firewall, IPSec VPN and intrusion prevention security.

The new Check Point UTM-1 Total Security appliances are available immediately. Check Point UTM-1 Total Security and Power-1 appliances can be purchased through Check Point’s worldwide network of value-added resellers. UTM-1 Totally Security pricing starts at $4,800.
