ChatSim takes the "revolution" to Cuba bringing WhatsApp (and other Chat Apps) before Google

April 2016 by Marc Jacob

ChatSim is bringing a genuine "social revolution" to Cuba. After the historical visit of US President Barack Obama (March 22-23, 2016), ChatSim - the world’s first "Instant Messaging Mobile Operator"- has committed itself to bringing freedom of communication with WhatsApp (the most popular Chat App to Cuba together with Imo) and with other Chat Apps to Cuba even before Google’s arrival, announced by Obama during his official speech delivered in Cuba.

Created to be the world’s first SIM card to make you chat free of charge and without limits, even without Wi-Fi, with Instant Messaging Apps (WhatsApp, Messenger, WeChat, Telegram, Facebook and many other Apps available for smartphones and tablets), ChatSimlets you send unlimited text messages and emoji all over the world, share photos and videos and keep in touch with friends and family while traveling.

During the press conference in Havana, when speaking of lifting sanctions, President Obama announced his commitment to bring the Internet and social communication services to Cuba. Manuel Zanella(39 years), ChatSim CEO and Instant Messaging pioneer in Cuba, has risen to the occasion.

ChatSim is the world’s first Mobile Operator to bring free of communication to Cuba with Chat Apps. The Cuban regime, an arch-enemy of the Internet and any means of communication that can connect Cubans to the rest of the world, has always fiercely opposed this freedom. In Havana there are 8 hot-spots where people crowd to access the Wi-Fi network even for just a few minutes. The costs of connections are incredibly expensive: a card costs two dollars an hour, which is equivalent to the average salary for two days of work.

"In Cuba change will also be driven by the freedom to easily access the Internet," states Manuel Zanella, ChatSim’s inventor. "Access to the web is incredibly expensive and greatly limited by Cuban authorities. President Obama promised he would help Cuba to access the web thanks also to an agreement between Google and authorities in Havana to develop Wi-Fi and broadband infrastructure. As an operator in the mobile and communication industry, I decided to bring ChatSim’s accessible and low-cost communication services to the island," explains Zanella.
And Cubans have discovered these easy and low-cost services and are flocking to purchase online the SIM card made to chat.

"There has been an exponentional growth in the demand for ChatSim by Cubans," confirms Zanella, who provides some figures that speak for themselves. "In Cuba we already have more than 25,000 users and we are growing at a rate of 10,000 new customers a month. We aiming at reaching 1 million consumers by 2017,"explains ChatSim’s inventor with great satisfaction.

At present in Cuba ChatSim’s offering is limited to a maximum threshold of 5 MB due to the high costs of roaming. "We are working with our partners to improve our offering," stresses ChatSim’s CEO. Nonetheless, the current offer is already very convenient for Cubans thanks to the distribution deal signed by ChatSim and the TLC company DimeCuba.

In Cuba ChatSim offers a series of advantages that make it an extraordinary communication tool. ChatSim makes it possible to connect to the network anywhere around the island, even without Wi-Fi.

ChatSim is very affordable. The first purchase costs USD 29.90 and lets users send text messages and emoji free of charge to the United States and other countries around the world (at present one hour of Wi-Fi connection costs about USD 2.50 and every international text message costs 60 cents).

The plan includes:

• 5 MB of text messages and emoji for Cuba.
• Unlimited text messages and emoji to the rest of the world.
• Coverage in over 150 countries.
• More than 250 international operators.

Once the 5 MB of credit runs out or after one year of use of the SIM card, the contract can be renewed at the cost of USD 25.90. In Cuba’s case, another 5 MB will be provided to chat, even without Wi-Fi, anywhere around the island.
ChatSim is the best solution for modern travelers to communicate around the world.
