Chancellor’s Investment in Cyber Security Welcomed

The Chancellor’s announcement of a £1.9bn investment in cyber security, has been welcomed by Colin Tankard, Managing Director of data security company, Digital Pathways.
Philip Hammond, at the National Cyber Security Strategy in London, made the announcement.
The £1.9bn will help to enlarge specialist police units, recruit some 50 specialists who will work at the Cyber Crime Unit at the National Crime Agency and go towards educating and training more cyber security experts.
The creation of a Cyber Security Research Institute – ‘a virtual network of UK universities’ will co-ordinate research into efforts to improve defences for smartphones, laptops and tablets. And, security-based start-ups will get help from an innovation fund.
