Bocade joins SNIA Green Storage initiative
October 2007 by Marc Jacob
Brocade® announced
that it is one of the early members of the new Green Storage Initiative launched this week by the
Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA). As a member of the Initiative, Brocade will work
within the SNIA to promote development and education around energy-efficient storage
networking solutions that minimize the environmental impact of data center operations.
Brocade is working to help promote data center efficiencies throughout its entire portfolio of
energy-efficient data networking solutions. Compared to competitive offerings, the Brocade
48000 Director generates only a third of the heat, requires less cooling, and leaves more power
for other devices in a rack configuration. Additionally, Brocade products support and simplify
high-performance data migration across heterogeneous environments and enable cost-effective,
centralized information management.
Through its participation in the SNIA Green Storage Initiative, Brocade will work with the SNIA to
develop tutorials, white papers, and best-practices educational material for energy-efficient data
center storage operations. The Green Storage Initiative will also act as the SNIA liaison to other
allied organizations such as The Green Grid—of which Brocade is also a member—to develop and
promote environmentally friendly data center solutions.
