Bloxx Delivers Web Filtering at JJB Sports

September 2011 by Emmanuelle Lamandé

Bloxx announced that JJB Sports is using Bloxx Web filtering to proactively manage and report on the Web browsing activity of over 6,000 employees accessing the Internet from over 2,000 client devices across multiple locations in the UK, including its Head Office, Support Centre and in store Point-of-Sales devices and workstations.

The company moved its Web filtering from Bluecoat appliance running Websense filtering software, a licensed solution based on the number of Internet users, to a Bloxx Web filtering appliance. Now a Bloxx 1750W Web Filter, which utilises Bloxx’s patent-pending Tru-View Technology, analyses and categorises Web pages in real-time, delivering control, management and reporting of all Internet access at the company.

JJB maintain different levels of Internet access dependent on a user’s requirements that allows the company to protect its staff from the potential dangers of the Internet and maximise staff productivity by blocking categories that are not considered a requirement for their job.

“We have various Acceptable Use Policies in place that allow our staff to access the Internet dependent on their needs. We offer more relaxed Internet restrictions at lunchtime to allow staff to use the Internet for personal requirements. The comprehensive Bloxx Web Reporting application enables us to understand Internet usage at the company, investigate attempted Internet abuse, address staff productivity concerns and protect the reputation of the company,” explains Dan Highton, Network Manager at JJB Sports.
