BWGV (the Baden-Wuerttembergische Genossenschaftsverband) Enables Secure Communication with Infotecs Cyber Security Solutions

August 2017 by Marc Jacob

Infotecs is pleased to announce it has successfully delivered a project in conjunction with MobileIron to securely connect mobile employees, distributed sites and provide secure access to critical information at Baden-Wuerttembergische Genossenschaftsverband (BWGV).

BWGV is an association of commercial cooperatives, a business structure common throughout Germany and elsewhere in Europe. Companies such as Euronics and Intersport are part of BWGV. Spurred by high-profile Cyber breaches and events in the news such as the publication of data by Wikileaks and Edward Snowden, BWGV decided to assess the security of its members´ data. Of particular import was the need to protect members from corporate espionage and cybercrime.

BWGV wanted to communicate securely between its central office, supplier and partner offices and with remote users and mobile devices. A decisive factor for choosing the Infotecs ViPNet Solution was its unique ability to provide military grade secure connections using peer-to-peer encryption and symmetric key management. Along with making BWGV the sole master of their own encryption keys this meant the solution was impervious to man-in-the middle attacks. In addition to meeting BWGV’s rigorous requirements for data security, confidentiality and user acceptance, Infotecs supported BWGV with exceptionally high customer service and professional project management.

To simplify and accelerate the deployment as well as to save time and money on the roll-out to nearly 1,000 mobile users using iPhones and other iOS devices, Infotecs developed a rapid roll-out and synchronization capability along with packaged integration with MobileIron, a leader in Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM). Moving forward, additional iOS mobile devices can be added seamlessly to the solution in a matter of seconds.

“The ViPNet technology meets all our key requirements, such as providing the highest level of protection for our data through using extremely robust encryption,” said Thomas van Helt, Head of Network / Security at BWGV. “Furthermore, ViPNet is able to secure communication on mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets, which was another reason for selecting this technology. We involved a number of departments and business units in the pilot phase to receive user feedback at an early stage. Due to the speed and ease of changing the configuration, user acceptance was high. We were also pleasantly surprised by the excellence and speed of response of the support organization. The Infotecs team was quickly able to provide us with an individually tailored solution.”

“Thanks to our cooperation with MobileIron, clients benefit from our extensive experience in providing highly secure mobile communication in a cost-effective, easy to use and seamless deployment,” says Josef Waclaw, CEO of Infotecs GmbH. ”The ViPNet Mobile Security solution for iOS and Android combined with MobileIron’s EMM capabilities gives customers a significant return on investment.”
