September 2014 by BSA (Business Software Alliance)
BSA | The Software Alliance welcomed Jean-Claude Juncker’s announcement of his proposed College of European Commissioners today, and in particular the creation of a new Commission Vice President for the Digital Single Market. Andrus Ansip has been appointed to the new VP role to act as digital champion as part of Juncker’s promise to create a “fully digital Europe”.
“We are delighted President-elect Juncker has followed through on his proposal to create a digital champion for Europe, appointing Andrus Ansip to oversee development of the Digital Single Market,” said BSA President and CEO Victoria Espinel. “Smart and thoughtful digital policies will ensure that digital technologies continue to drive much-needed job creation and growth throughout the entire European economy.”
“It will be important for Vice President Ansip to consistently encourage the development and deployment of innovative new services and technologies now and in the future,” Espinel said. “We stand ready to work with Mr. Ansip and his team of fellow Commissioners to nurture the full potential of data-enabled technologies for European citizens and the EU economy at large.”
