Arbor Networks Extends Market Leadership in DDoS Mitigation Appliances According to New Infonetics Research Report

December 2014 by Arbor Networks

Arbor Networks, Inc. was once again identified as the top supplier of distributed denial of service (DDoS) mitigation appliances overall as well as in the Carrier, Enterprise and Mobile market segments according to Infonetics Research.

In a new report titled DDoS Prevention Appliance Market Outlook, DDoS attacks themselves are the number one driver for DDoS mitigation this year. As a result, companies – and particularly those with the largest infrastructures to protect – need to stay vigilant as attackers continue to add increasingly complex and sophisticated threat vectors to their attack campaigns.

“We’re seeing strong growth in on-premise DDoS mitigation appliances as enterprises increasingly realise that DDoS attacks are much more than high volume traffic floods. On-premise protection is needed against stealthy application-layer attacks,” said Jeff Wilson, principal analyst with Infonetics Research. “Arbor has led this market for more than a decade, and continues to do so with innovative solutions like the Pravail product family and the Arbor Cloud DDoS service, which provides integrated, multi-layer protection from the data center to the cloud.”

“The pace of innovation on the part of attackers is truly impressive, and it is something that challenges us and drives Arbor to invest in and focus on our own innovation. Few technology companies can dominate a market for a decade, but Arbor has in DDoS mitigation. It is a testament to the team behind our solutions. They truly are the world’s leading experts in this area,” said Arbor Networks President Matthew Moynahan.”

Arbor Networks DDoS Portfolio

Arbor CloudSM

Arbor Cloud’s hybrid model is the recognised industry best practice for DDoS defence. By tightly integrating DDoS mitigation between the premise and the cloud, Arbor Cloud’s hybrid defence protects enterprises against the full spectrum of modern DDoS attacks, including volumetric, reflection/amplification, application-layer, state-exhaustion (e.g. targeting firewall/IPS) and multi-vector attacks.

The ease of use of the on-premise Pravail® Availability Protection System enables existing enterprise IT staff to maintain control of mitigation, and gives them the ability to quickly alert the cloud when attacks reach a certain size that cannot be blocked locally. Arbor’s proprietary Cloud Signaling technology automates the connection between enterprise and cloud mitigation equipment, reducing time to mitigation. This tight integration is the best way to ensure the availability of critical network resources. Arbor Cloud customers are supported by a 24x7 Security Operations Center staffed by Arbor Networks DDoS mitigation experts.

Peakflow®

Many of the world’s leading cloud, hosting and service providers rely on Arbor’s Peakflow DDoS protection platform to proactively fend off malicious threats such as botnets and volumetric and application-layer distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks, while strengthening the availability and quality of their services. The Peakflow platform includes two main components, Peakflow and the Peakflow Threat Management System. Peakflow combines network-wide anomaly detection and traffic engineering with the Peakflow Threat Management System’s carrier-class threat management, which automatically detects and surgically removes only attack traffic, while maintaining other business traffic. With the ability to mitigate only the attack traffic, customer-facing services remain available while providers actively mitigate attacks. The Peakflow platform also powers many of the world’s leading cloud-based DDoS managed security services.
