Advance on Survey Findings? Poor security habits by Enterprise Employees

November 2017 by Preempt

Preempt recently conducted an enterprise survey on how
employees create security risks through uncontrolled access, poor passwords
practices and other security habits. The full report, with responses from more than
200 management level employees in enterprises of 1000+, will be released on
Thursday, November 16th. I thought you might want a look at this one in advance.
Here are a few indications:

* 25 percent of employees have tried to access restricted data at work

* 60 percent of employees who have attempted to access restricted data at
work are successful in their attempts

* Over 30 percent of employees have "bent the rules" or found a security
workaround in order to complete a task - with more than ten percent of employees
having done so with some regularity.

* Only 20 percent of employees were aware that their passwords were
compromised in a public breach. 56 % of those, changed their passwords on the
breached account only proving they are not aware of the full consequences of a
password leak..

* 25 percent of respondents claim that multiple users are sharing a username
and password for accounts in their office

* 41 percent of employees using the same password for both personal and work
account
