Action1 Provides IT Teams with Free Automated Scripting to Fix Follina

June 2022 by Action1 Corporation

Action1 Corporation, provider of the #1 secure and easy-to-use remote monitoring and management (RMM) cloud platform, announced that it arms IT teams with automated scripting and patching capabilities to help them mitigate the risk from the CVE-2022-30190, nicknamed “Follina,” across their remote and in-office machines. The service is free for the first 100 endpoints.

Action1 empowers internal IT departments and managed service providers (MSPs) to fix Follina by implementing a workaround suggested by Microsoft in a seamless and efficient manner. The Action1 research team has developed a batch file that minimizes the risk of data loss during script execution — unlike the script from Microsoft, the script by Action1 performs all necessary checks and asks for confirmation about whether the current backup needs to be overwritten. Moreover, Action1’s powerful automation capabilities enable IT teams to automate script deployment across all company’s endpoints in bulk. Finally, once an official patch is available, Action1 will facilitate the reversion of the changes to the Windows Registry and deployment of the patch to fix the flaw right away.

“Implementing the current workaround manually can be time-consuming and labor-intensive, especially if many company’s endpoints are remote, causing dangerous delays in vulnerability mitigation,” said Mike Walters, President and co-founder of Action1. “Since we’re already seeing the creation of more sophisticated exploits that combine Follina with other flaws, IT teams need to be able to respond quickly and effectively to such threats as they emerge. It requires streamlined scripting and patching across remote and in-office endpoints and automation of other essential IT tasks.”
