AV-Comparatives publishes real-world protection results of 21 leading antivirus products

The independent security software tester AV-Comparatives released the April results of the on-going Real-World Protection Test. This is the most comprehensive and complex test available when it comes to evaluating the real-life protection capabilities of antivirus software. AV-Comparatives’ test framework replicates the scenario of an everyday user in an everyday online environment – the typical situation that most of us experience when using a computer with an Internet connection.

April real-world protection results
Every month we collect new malicious software (malware) to test how well home and corporate users are protected against the latest cyber threats.
The chart to the right shows the protection scores for the month of April 2017, which also includes the false positive (false alarm) results.
This month we challenged the antivirus products tested with 448 of the nastiest live samples collected through our network. Our honey pots picked up a growing number of ransomware.
