ADVA Optical Networking Launches ALM
October 2016 by Emmanuelle Lamandé
ADVA Optical Networking launched ADVA ALM, a new advanced link monitoring solution. Its core purpose is to proactively monitor fiber plants and help operators to resolve any issues before they impact services.
The ADVA ALM was specifically engineered to be a simple plug-and-play fiber assurance device. It provides continuous in-service monitoring, enabling operators to know immediately if and where issues arise. This real-time data is key to supervising and assuring dark fiber services, especially when selling higher value service level agreements. Another key feature of the ADVA ALM’s engineering is its passive demarcation. It can be configured to passively monitor access services. By eliminating active demarcation, operators can further reduce operating costs and deploy the ADVA ALM in even the most extreme environmental conditions. Unlike other test equipment, the ADVA ALM is built on standardized, open management interfaces that ease integration into operational support systems. The product is also integrated with leading geographic information systems.
