Systematic data surveillance by the NSA has caused
uncertainty even among German companies. It has increased the importance of
quality seals certifying the safety of professional communication solutions. a
leading German manufacturer of IP telephony and Unified Communications
solutions, innovaphone, has now been bestowed the "IT security made in
Germany" certificate, awarded by TeleTrusT, the German IT security association.
Established in 2005 on the initiative of the Federal Ministry of the Interior (BMI), the
Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi), as well as representatives of the
German IT security industry, the German quality seal "IT security made in Germany" is
one measure to counteract the loss of confidence in Internet-based communication
systems surrounding the NSA revelations.
The protected quality seal is awarded to companies who commit to both ensuring the
reliability and legal compliance of the solutions on offer as well as undertaking research
and development for security issues in Germany.
