Vigil@nce - Linux kernel: infinite loop of isofs Rock Ridge CE
December 2014 by Vigil@nce
This bulletin was written by Vigil@nce : http://vigilance.fr/offer
SYNTHESIS OF THE VULNERABILITY
A local attacker can insert a malicious cdrom, to generate an
infinite loop via isofs Rock Ridge CE on the Linux kernel, in
order to trigger a denial of service.
Impacted products: Linux
Severity: 1/4
Creation date: 17/12/2014
DESCRIPTION OF THE VULNERABILITY
The Linux kernel implements the support of isofs (cdrom) with Rock
Ridge extensions.
However, if Rock Ridge data contains a chain of Continuation
Entries, an infinite loop occurs.
A local attacker can therefore insert a malicious cdrom, to
generate an infinite loop via isofs Rock Ridge CE on the Linux
kernel, in order to trigger a denial of service.
