DESCRIPTION
The OWA web interface offers a webmail which can be used to read
emails stored in the mailbox.
The following link is used to redirect a url:
https://owa_server/exchweb/bin/redir.asp?URL=...
An attacker can send an email containing this url. As the url
starts by "https://owa_server/", the victim can be fooled and
think that the link he is about to click on is legitimate.
However, he will be redirected to the url indicated by the
attacker.
It can be noted that the final url in the address bar is the
attacker’s one (not https://owa_server/...). Some victims thus
immediately realize that they were redirected.
An attacker can therefore send an email containing a special url
to the victim, and invite him to click on this link to be
redirected to another web site.
