SYNTHESIS OF THE VULNERABILITY
An attacker can send a malicious L2TP packet to Cisco IOS XE, in
order to trigger a denial of service.

DESCRIPTION OF THE VULNERABILITY
The Cisco IOS XE product can be installed on Cisco ASR 1000 Series
Routers.
However, a malformed L2TP (Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol) packet sent
during a L2TP session can stop the ESP card.
An attacker can therefore send a malicious L2TP packet to Cisco
IOS XE, in order to trigger a denial of service.
