Veridos Wins Zambian eID Card Project
October 2017 by Patrick LEBRETON
The Republic of Zambia has awarded Veridos with a contract to deliver polycarbonate electronic ID cards to Zambia. The new eID card, which is equipped with a contactless chip, fulfils the highest quality standards and offers convenient multi-application options to Zambian citizens.
Following the German eID card approach, widely considered the most sophisticated identity solution in the world, there is a contactless security chip embedded in the new ID card. Based on the German eID concept – a pure contactless card which supports multiple applications for biometric dentification, authentication, and digital signature services – relevant international standards including X.509 certificates for secure authentication are applied. Biometric information is stored on the card using state-of-the-art protection protocols to protect and restrict access to sensitive personal data.
