University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf Secures Administrator Passwords with Lieberman Software

September 2012 by Emmanuelle Lamandé

Lieberman Software Corporation announced that the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf purchased the company’s Random Password Manager™ (RPM) product and deployed it on more than 1,600 Active Directory managed systems. RPM helps the University Hospital protect access to sensitive data by securing powerful administrator accounts on all managed systems.

“Random Password Manager is a valuable investment that significantly improves the security of our personal and financial data,” said Florian Benthin, Head of Desktop Services at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf. “We’re very satisfied with the product and plan to extend the license to cover more systems on our network.”

The University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf is one of the largest hospitals in northern Germany, with approximately 1460 hospital beds. Each year the medical center treats around 80,000 in-patients. Additionally, 260,000 out-patients and 113,000 emergency patients are treated annually.

RPM was selected over competing products by the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf for its ability to automatically and frequently change privileged account passwords in a large, cross-platform enterprise.

RPM is a privileged identity management product that automatically randomizes administrator and root account passwords on the network, and allows delegated and audited retrieval of current passwords. It ensures that each system maintains unique credentials, preventing one decrypted privileged password from providing unrestricted, anonymous access on the network.
