Turkcell subsidiary life chooses Secucloud for its mobile security service

September 2017 by Marc Jacob

Cybercriminals always do a cost-benefit analysis before launching an attack by estimating how many users they can potentially affect with their malware. The explosion in the use of smartphones and similar mobile devices means that online gangsters are increasingly focusing on them. In order to deal with this growth in threats and risks on the internet, the mobile operator life:) Belarus has decided to provide its 1.6 million customers with the cloud-based Advanced Security Suite from the German security specialist Secucloud. The operator plans to deliver the service as part of its portfolio by the end of this year and offer its private customers user-friendly and high-performance protection that will enable them to use the mobile internet securely.

“User-friendliness and simplicity are among the key qualities that differentiate us on the market,” says Dina Tsybulskaya, CEO at CJSC Belarusian Telecommunication Network. “This is why we offer our customers a wide range of options on top of our regular products, enabling users to add them to the service they buy and optimise their mobile user experience even more. In these days of increasing internet threats, it is important that we also include a high-performance security service. With Secucloud’s cloud-based security solution, our customers are protected from internet threats and do not need to worry about installing or constantly updating software. This convenience is exactly what our customers expect from us.”

Cloud-based protection for home users

Secucloud and life:) have laid the cornerstone of their collaboration. The security service is based on Secucloud’s Advanced Security Suite, which protects mobile internet users from online threats like viruses, Trojans and fraudulent malware. It works by routing all internet traffic from apps, browsers and background processes through Secucloud’s Elastic Cloud Security System (ECS2), where it is checked for damaging content using a variety of security mechanisms. These include anti-phishing, anti-malware, anti-bot, anti-hacking and anti-anonymiser tools. In this way, any threats are detected and removed before they reach the user’s smartphone.

“Following on from our master agreements with two of the largest groups in the telecommunications industry – Deutsche Telekom AG and Ooredoo –, we’re currently expanding our sales activities in the European and Asian region,” explains Dennis Monner, CEO of Secucloud. “We’ve taken another important step for market development in Europe and Asia with this new partnership: life:) is part of the international Turkcell Group, with a number of subscribers that amounted to approximately 51.4 million as of June 30, 2017. Turkcell Group companies operate in nine countries – Turkey, Ukraine, Belarus, Northern Cyprus, Germany, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Georgia and Moldova.”
