Proofpoint Positioned as a Leader in the 2015 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Secure Email Gateways

July 2015 by Marc Jacob

Proofpoint, Inc. announced that Gartner, Inc. has positioned Proofpoint in the leader’s quadrant of its “Magic Quadrant for Secure Email Gateways” for the seventh consecutive year. Proofpoint was positioned farthest and highest respectively on the “completeness of vision” and “ability to execute” axes.

“Phishing attacks are an increasingly serious threat,” according to Peter Firstbrook, Research Vice President at Gartner and Neil Wynne, Service Analyst. “For the past two years, more than 65 percent of cyberespionage incidents have featured phishing. We see ample evidence that companies of all sizes and in all industries are targets of well-crafted phishing attacks. Better protection from targeted phishing attacks remains the most critical inbound protection capability.”

Proofpoint’s secure email gateway catches and stops cyberthreats hours or even days before traditional defenses. By combining world-class secure email gateway functionality with Targeted Attack Protection technology, Proofpoint defends users from sophisticated, targeted phishing attacks. Next-generation behavioral analysis and advanced malware sandboxing protect organizations in real time from dynamic and zero-day malware, weaponized attachments, malicious embedded URLs and other advanced exploits.

“Proofpoint is, once again, a recognized leader in stopping email-based threats year after year, which is why we feel thousands of companies put their trust in our proven secure email gateway,” said Gary Steele, CEO of Proofpoint. “Organizations face a stunning array of unpredictable, highly advanced, targeted email attacks. Email isn’t going away—and neither is the fact that organizations will always have people who click on malicious content. We are committed to continuing our security innovation to proactively stop advanced persistent threats, phishing campaigns and malware.”
